Make-Overs are a unique duo of redheaded musical malcontents who hail from the grey suburban wasteland of Kilnerpark South Africa. Formed in mid 2010 with Martinique on drums/vocals and Andreas on guitar/vocals, the couple hit the South African scene with a frenzied live act that cuts through you like a machete. Their music has developed a sonic template bursting with an endless stream of inventive possibilities. There is no predetermined musical direction but instead a mutual excitement in discovery and exploration. From frantic outbursts to gentle trance inducing grooves, the Make-Overs are somewhat unpredictable. Catapulting themselves into a hypnotic state, they have an electric stage presence delivered with an unapologetic attitude. Recording to 16 track open-reel tape in their very own make-shift studio at ‘the KRNGY logo’ headquarters, they have self released six full length albums, three 7′ singles – Hozac’s “Surfbored” (released for Hook Up Klub 3 in 2012/13), “It’s Unnatural” (released on KRNGY records) and a split 7″ on Angry Africa Records (who are also currently releasing a tape titles “Tapeworm” with a selection of tracks from various past albums. There has now been roomers that the 7th album will be released later this year.

They first met at film school ten years prior to the creation of Make-Overs, the fiery two shared a love for wild music and B-grade movies from yesteryear. Over the following decade they played in some influential local bands and started up a DIY record label under the title ‘the KRNGY logo’ before the inception of Make-Overs.

The band has vigorously gigged and toured locally and internationally, earlier in 2013 Make-Overs were invited to play Hozac Records legendary Blackout Festival, held at The Empty Bottle in Chicago, Illinois. Instead of only playing one show the band took the opportunity and performed in New York, Detroit and various other venues in Chicago, they even appeared on the hip kids TV show, Chic-A-Go-Go, spreading their manic message to those willing and unwilling to hear it.
