Markus Wormstorm is the embodiment of everything inspiring about the creative world.
He’s a writer and composer whose plethora of masterpieces comprises everything from geeky sci-fi stuff to classical operas, and drives us to use words like ‘plethora’. He writes novels and video game concepts, and designs music.
In 2003, his collaboration with Sibot, called The Real Estate Agents, literally paved the way for ‘intelligent electronica’ we hear today.
Over the last ten years he has (*clears throat*) remixed and collaborated with local and international artists the likes of Spoek Mhatambo and MF Doom; released EP’s and albums around the world; created music for commercials and film and has spoken at international conferences in New York, Mexico and The Netherlands. His fantasy art collective The Blackheart Gang puts South African animation in the spotlight. In 2007 he won a special distinction award for The Gang’s work at the Annecy Festival in France. His company Biblo.tv offers library music that doesn’t suck, and he owns Honeymoon Studios in Cape Town. His latest album “Not I, but a friend” is being distributed by Kompakt.FM internationally.
He currently lives in The Mother City with his wife and cat and he is busy with The Boy Who Could Stop Time, a space opera adventure novel with a romantic twist. Yes, you read it right the first time.
